A worthy soundtrack for spring blooms. Here, from 2nd to 5th May the concerts of Lucca Classical Music Festival with over 80 events including symphonic concerts, chamber music, listening guides, events.
The music is the protagonist and, as in the Lucca tradition, not only classical. At Classic Lucca, Music is for everyone: adults and children, curious and mature youngsters who love classical music, but more generally of culture and beauty. Bach and Mozart will be heard, but also by Gershwin and Bernstein; the baroque music and the first performances of contemporary composers; pages by Puccini, Rossini and Verdi.
Lucca Classica 2019 will host big names in music and culture, also international and, as always, young people called to contribute with their talent, their freshness and their vision of art.
Among the guests, the String Quartet of the Teatro alla Scala, the Italian Chamber Orchestra with Salvatore Accardo conductor and soloist, Bruno Canino and Cristiano Rossi, Andrea Lucchesini, Enrico Bronzi, Marco Rizzi, Danilo Rossi, Pietro De Maria, Il Quartetto Nous, The Quartetto Guadagnini, the guitarist Antigoni Goni who will play near the monument of Ilaria del Carretto. And again Massimo Bray, former Minister of Cultural Heritage and current President of the Treccani Encyclopedia Institute, the cartoonist Leo Ortolani in a meeting with guitarist Giampaolo Bandini and much more.
During the Festival there will also be a way to celebrate the many anniversaries that mark 2019 and which have marked the history of humanity. We will then go to discover the music at the time of Leonardo da Vinci, we will remember in music the 30 years since the fall of the Berlin wall and 50 years from the first step of man on the Moon, the 100 years since the birth of the flautist Severino Gazzelloni and the director Ermanno Olmi one year after his death with Fabio Vacchi, composer close to Olmi, awarded with the David di Donatello for the soundtrack of "The Craft of Arms".
And then room for contamination with the many meetings between different disciplines, occasions that every year make the Festival a laboratory of new experiences, open to dialogue with current events. It is with this in mind that the prestigious collaboration with Il Cortile dei Gentili, the structure of the Pontifical Council for Culture, was born. faith, ethics and art and to which the Lucca Classica Music Festival Award will go.
As every year, the festival cannot do without a tribute to Giacomo Puccini. Among the many events dedicated to him, the execution of some unpublished organ pieces performed by Liuwe Tamminga (found thanks to the research work of the Giacomo Puccini Study Center) and visits to the Giacomo Puccini Birthplace Museum organized by the Giacomo Puccini Foundation.
Finally, Lucca Classica is a way of getting to know the city immersed in music, its extraordinary historical and artistic heritage and its rich musical tradition that includes great musicians such as Giacomo Puccini, Luigi Boccherini, Francesco X. Geminiani and Alfredo Catalani.
The soundtrack of this long weekend in which the squares, the monuments, the theaters and the cloisters become a widespread stage on which sounds, words and emotions capable of speaking to the thousands of people who have lived and shared the experience over the years will be staged of the Festival one of the most attractive cultural events in our country that has earned, within a few years, the mention in the Europa and Music volumes of the Treccani Encyclopedia.
