Carnival takes to the ice

Throughout the event, Carnival also arrives at the Ice Park in the Caffè delle Mura square: those who skate in costume will receive a discount on their ticket, and on Sunday, February 8th, the most beautiful costume will be awarded, with free gifts and surprises for adults and children alike.

24 24 from January to February… installations of papier-mâché giants in the squares of Lucca and colorful projections on the facades of Piazza Anfiteatro and the Teatro del Giglio Giacomo Puccini.

February 22nd in Piazza San Francesco A day of street art and music, fried friars, and games in one of the most Lucca-like neighborhoods of the historic center.

The event combines art and entertainment, food and conviviality, families and young people, displays and costumes.

In Piazza San Francesco, CarnevalFratta is the historic masquerade event that since the late 1970s has enlivened the Bastardo neighborhood, the Fratta area, and the Borghi di Levante district. It quickly became the Lucca Carnival, a highly popular cultural and artistic event, held year-round in the square and throughout the city, with mask-making and float-making workshops. In the 1990s, 60 Pulcinellas arrived from Avellino. We can only wait and see what 2026 has in store!

The underlying theme will be street art. Piazza San Francesco will be the home of street art for a day: civic theater, children's entertainment, street music, entertainment, magic, stilt walkers, jugglers, street bands, art and photography installations, including the display of vintage photos of Carnevalfratta directly on the façade of the church, face painting, a mask workshop, and puppet theater.

The square itself will be decorated with a Carnival theme, and the event will continue from early afternoon until early evening.

At Lucca in Maschera on February 20th there is also “Balla Italia”,

an event in the square with Italian music to dance to.

People dance and enjoy Italian hits in an atmosphere of memories and musical culture, with a DJ set livening up the squares, providing a chance to socialize and have fun.

Masks in Dance Grand Gala at Villa Bottini 

Dance evening with aperitif February 14th at Villa Bottini.
The evening will be enlivened by music selected by DJ Egy and MAra and the participation of the Società di Danza Circolo di Lucca.

The Parade of theEurocarnival through the streets of Lucca with a final concert of united bands for  the legendary  Monster concert in Piazza dell'Anfiteatro

An international Carnival event, a parade bringing together hundreds of participants in elaborate costumes and spectacular choreography, along with Guggenmusik performances, the distinctive musical style typical of Swiss and German carnivals from various European countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, and Italy.

Lucca will host the 30th edition, a prestigious special event that combines its local event "Lucca in Maschera" with international participants to parade through the historic center.
