Fun and engaging events and initiatives in collaboration with the Viareggio Carnival will bring a festive and light-hearted spirit to Lucca.

Lucca in Maschera doubles up!

together with the parade of the Viareggio Carnival, on the Walls of Lucca will arrive theEurocarnival, an international parade with over 900 participants from various European countries; events also take place in the surrounding villages for a nationwide event. 

The parade of masks will follow along the walls of Lucca and through the historic center, complete with choreography and music.

For children there is an appointment on Saturday afternoon in the square* with confetti and entertainment, for the larger evening musical events in the streets of theMerry Bacchanal, Masked Ball at Villa Bottini, Dance Italy in Piazza Anfiteatro, the Carnival concert entrusted this year to Amedeo Minghi**, and for everyone the traditional CarnevalFratta in Piazza San Francesco.

*Children's Carnival in Piazza San Michele on February 7th it has been postponed to Thursday, February 12th (Fat Thursday) due to bad weather.

On February 8th, the Viareggio Carnival masks parade along the walls of Lucca and through the streets of the historic center.

Burlamacco, Ondina, and Carnival godmother Katia Buchicchio, Miss Italy 2025, lead the parade of masked groups, complete with hundreds of extras, miniature floats, and other surprises.

The parade starts from Porta Vittorio Emanuele (Sant'Anna) and continues along the curtain wall to the Caffè delle Mura where it will then descend to Piazza Napoleone for the presentation and performance of the masked groups and masquerades of the papier-mâché school and the School of Music, and then conclude in Piazza San Michele.

The parade will open with the 500 of the Viareggio Carnival followed by

The façade of the Church of San Francesco is very linear, with a gabled profile and decoration of alternating bands of white and green marble. The lower section features three large blind arches with two lateral arches. The upper section features a rose window.

Carnival Concert – Amedeo Minghi

The Roman singer-songwriter performs a recital as part of his "Anima Sbiadita" tour. This intense, emotionally charged tour will bring his timeless music to the San Romano Auditorium on February 21st. His new album and the great classics that have shaped the history of Italian music will be featured.

Lucca in Masquerade Day by Day

Lucchetto is the Carnival mask of Lucca. He wears a white jacket, red pants, and a red hat that resembles the walls of Lucca.

Lucchetto, the mask designed by collector Piero Caniparoli, which has its roots in the city's tradition of the Lucca Carnival, will welcome Burlamacco and Ondina.

The Panther

The parade will open with a 4,5-meter-high and 5-meter-long work, created by the famous Viareggio float master Luca Bertozzi, representing the heraldic symbol of Lucca, the Panther.
