A Magical Christmas for the Winter Holidays

The lights of winter
From November 22nd the streets and shops of the historic centre will be dressed in the colours and lights of Christmas.
A starry sky stretches over the streets of the historic center, plays of light redesign the historic buildings and churches, dressing them for this festive occasion, playing with installations by contemporary artists to be discovered in the squares.


Christmas markets
Traditional wooden houses where you can find Christmas decorations, warm and soft accessories, and unexpected gifts to give and receive with love. Piazza Napoleone is transformed into the most beautiful of traditional markets. To invite you to carefully search for your own small or large gift in the enveloping Christmas atmosphere. In Piazza San Frediano, and in the other markets that enliven the squares and loggias, the artisan market and the tempting, mouth-watering delicacies are where you can find a little piece of Lucca to take home with you.


Family vacations
Winter atmospheres and red cheeks and a fantastic place to speed on the ice. The ice rink of Ice Park is on the Walls of Lucca, at the top of a festively lit ramp and overlooking the historic center and opposite the Antico Caffè.
A truly "magical" place to spend an afternoon with family or friends, a romantic evening to enjoy alone or with a loved one.
The most important event of the year for adults and children together is in Vicolo San Carlo, a courtyard in the historic center which becomes Santa's Village where you can stop to play, listen to music, and take part in the celebrations and warmth of the end-of-year days.


The Tradition of the Nativity Scene and Lots of Ambient Music
A must-see in the birthplace of so many great musicians. In churches, cloisters, and the halls of historic palaces, music flows throughout the month with traditional Christmas concerts, along with the living tradition of nativity scenes and festively decorated Christmas trees.
A journey to follow, a special opportunity to discover traditional nativity scenes handed down for centuries alongside smaller, creative, contemporary nativity scenes set up in locations always brimming with charm.
