Artists at work in the "workshops" of Lucca, to prepare the most important International event dedicated to paper and cardboard, material and instrument of artistic expression and creativity.


Fear and desire are the keywords of this edition

a combination on which artists, performers, designers and architects have been called to reflect through their works and to talk about art and society.

From 2 August until 26 September the monumental sculptures will decorate the most evocative corners of the city and be the subject of an exhibition at the former Comics Museum with many events and happenings.

Eight monumental statues, some of which measuring over 9 meters, will embellish the city's squares,

Over one hundred works created by artists from all over the world for the indoor exhibition at the former Comics Museum on two thousand square meters to be discovered,

30 international paper artists expose their works in many unusual places such as restaurants, shops, laboratories, professional studios for the side event - Lucca Biennale off.


 
In these "paper days" many events can be discovered

 

in the sections of the festival:

an outdoor exhibition, an indoor exhibition, performances, architecture, fashion, Focus on (host country), events, workshops, network days and the Off section which will host artistic performances, focus on fashion, display of jewelry, accessories and clothes made of paper and cardboard, workshops dedicated to children and adults, and the unmissable date with the Ned-Network days where enthusiasts and professionals of the sector meet and collaborate.

Lucca, Auditorium San Romano: Lucca Biennale Cartasia 2021 presents the Network Days.
I NeD, a stage to tell and discuss about paper at 360 degrees, through panels, projections and networking on 3 themes:

    Focus Japan, secrets and use of Japanese paper and paper makers, with the participation of the historian Paolo Linetti, the restorer Claudia Giostrella and the artist Meiko Yokoyama.
    Stand Up, the unusual use of paper in fairs and events, with Philipp Blume, CEO of the Paper Town company.
    Fear and Desire, the theme that inspired the artists of this edition, dialogue with the Artistic Director of LuBiCaX Emiliano Galigani and the artists of this edition. Moderated by Tessa Wiechmann.

 
Admission to the indoor exhibition at the former Comics Museum (6.00 / 12.00 euros), concessions for residents in the province of Lucca, over 65 and under 30, students and teachers, visitors with Trenitalia or Ctt Nord tickets , Unicoop members, groups of at least 10 people, visitors to the Guinigi tower and the botanical garden.
Admission is free for children up to 10 years of age, journalists with ID cards, tourist guides, disabled and their accompanying persons.
