A festival created after the restoration of the organ of the San Martino cathedral in Lucca to promote a repertoire of sacred music, the 58th edition of the Sagra Musicale Lucchese is an important cultural event in Italy thanks to a high level artistic program proposing unpublished music, premières and International celebrities, promoting the best of the contemporary artistic production.

 

2nd edition of the Festival della Risata, the Laughter Festival. Three days together laughing and deepening important issues at the same time, still with a smile on your lips. Smile and laughter, an ideal combination to deal with issues of social and scientific relevance with hilarity.

On Mother's Day the Botanical Garden organizes, in collaboration with the A.Di.P.A. association, guided tours to discover plants related to motherhood and, in a certain sense, to care, protection and fertility. A new path to discover the collections of the Botanical Garden of Lucca.

3 May is the feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross, which has its roots as early as the fourth century after Christ. On this occasion a traditional fair is held.

Traditional fairs and markets have played a very important role since ancient times. Already in the Middle Ages, fairs were held during local festivals and the rulers granted exemption from duties and taxes thus offering goods with more convenient prices.
