Two events to help recover the precious library of the former Psychiatric Hospital of Maggiano Lucca, whose volumes have been severely damaged by some water infiltration from the roof of the structure.

The library is the only medical library in the province that is rich in works and collections of specialist and general medicine journals. The library of the former Psychiatric Hospital of Maggiano Lucca is composed of about 4000 books, as well as 261 journals (172 Italian and 89 foreign). The oldest volumes are from 1735 and 1791 to which are added a series of nineteenth-century works that in part are not available in other libraries.

The second event will take place on Friday 21 June at the Mario Tobino Foundation.

The protagonist this year will be the cinema, with the screening of some clips of films regarding the cinematography set in Maggiano and, in particular, the film by the filmmaker and doctor Luigi Mochi, entirely shot in the asylum, will be shown, which he tells, even through very precious movies, rehabilitation activities and the famous light music festival. Also present will be Nicola Mochi, doctor and son of the director, and the Lucchese film critic Marco Vanelli, who will introduce the movie "La teppa del piazzone" shot, directed and conceived by the boys of the Nottolini school in Lammari, in collaboration with the help of the young director lucchese Michele Moretti, who through the cinema is making a personal journey of growth and overcoming his disability.
