Lucca, international showcase of opera with the Nicola Martinucci International Voice Competition: on 29 June the concert of the winners will be open to the whole city.

Nicola Martinucci, the world-famous Italian tenor famous for his interpretations of the roles of Calaf, Radamès and Andrea Chénier, is the honorary president of the first edition of the International Voice Competition, a competition for opera singers to be held in Lucca, at the Teatro del Giglio, from 27 to 29 June.

The Competition will select, among many candidates, the best young and very young artists of international opera during evenings days of work.

The jury brings together representatives of major international opera houses such as Melissa Wegner (Metropolitan Opera of New York), Michel Beaulac (Opera of Montreal), David Bennett (Opera of San Diego), Mauro Gabrieli (Teatro Comunale of Bologna), James Meena (Opera Carolina), along with them, in the jury, the tenor Vittorio Grigolo and Francesca Condeluci (Columbia Artists - CAMI), Giancarlo Del Monaco (director) and Claudio Ferri (Royal Artists Management).

On Saturday 29th June at 6 pm, the winners will perform at the Teatro del Giglio in a concert open to all citizens; an important opportunity for sharing that will allow the public to get a preview of the stars of tomorrow's opera.
