What should I put in my backpack?

Walk along the Francigena and learn about local products in six meetings organized by Slow Food that reveal the ... flavor of the Via Francigena in the Lucca area. From oil to wild herbs, from sweets to legumes, to soups.

The food is an authentic way to discover and learn about the traditions, history and culture of Europe and the journey along the Via Francigena crosses places linked to the authenticity and genuineness of local products, a way to let the visitor know and appreciate the territory. Genuine food, culture and culture of gastronomy are an important theme for the development of the Via Francigena, which offers the opportunity to discover the territories through quality products. It is no coincidence that the Via Francigena and its potential linked to the typical agro-food has been included among the 60 special projects dedicated to EXPO Milano 2015 to raise awareness of the lesser Europe through food.

Who is preparing to travel the Francigena, when preparing the backpack can take advantage of local foods that guarantee freshness and sustainability and offer the opportunity to make the journey tasty and to walk light ... in every sense.

The six round tables are divided into themes and will be dedicated to:

Saturday, December 1st:
morning - Pulsing
afternoon - The oil. The common thread

Sunday, December 2nd:
morning - cold cuts and cheese
afternoon - Something sweet

Friday, December 7th:
morning - Soups and vegetables
afternoon - Bread with bread, Wine with wine

In each meeting will discuss the historical / oenogastronomy of the territory related to the topic and the products object of the meeting, nutritionists with valuable advice on health and nutritional aspects for walkers and sedentary, producers and cooks that will give important indications on local products and how to prepare them for taste them best and, at the end of the meeting, will offer a tasting of the products accompanied by explanatory notes.

The meetings will be held on 1-2 and 7 December 2018 // 11:30 am and 4:00 pm as part of the IL DESCO 2018 exhibition-market, at the Sala del Miglio of the Royal College of Lucca, Piazza del Collegio ( Lucca)

Participation in the meetings is free until all available seats are available (20 max)
