The main theme of the initiatives of the seventeenth edition of Amico Museo is "Museums and citizenship: the local community becomes the protagonist" and draws freely from the topic identified by ICOM for May 18, International Day of Museums. A special consideration will also be given this year to the activities that museums will insert for the disabled public.

An important event this year will be "The Night of the Museums" which will take place throughout Europe on May 19, with night openings of the museums participating in the initiative.
