Our Francigena route

A public meeting on the strategic choices in view of the creation of a homogeneous tourist offer in Tuscany.
After the events held in Fucecchio, Pontremoli and Siena, o Friday January 19, “La nostra Francigena. Territori protagonisti del tempo delle scelte” (Territories as protagonists of the time of choices) will also take place in Lucca, at Palazzo Ducale.

The initiative is part of a cycle of meetings promoted by the Tuscany Region on the territory with the aim of sharing the qualifying points and the strategic choices for the definition of a homogeneous tourist offer for the Via Francigena. Lucca in fact, on the basis of the agreement signed in Florence on 26 July between the 39 towns interested in the creation of the first homogeneous tourist product called "Via Francigena toscana", together with Fucecchio for the Center-South area, Pontremoli for the North and Siena for the South, it is the leading municipality of the Center-North area, which includes the Municipalities of Seravezza,
Pietrasanta, Camaiore, Massarosa, Capannori, Porcari, Montecarlo, Altopascio and Ponte Buggianese.

The program of the seminar meeting "La nostra Francigena" on Friday from 9.00 am to 11.00 am includes three monothematic conferences dedicated first to hospitality and aimed at hostel managers, tourism business, basic and ecclesiastical accommodation, to the involved towns of the agreement, to the pro-loco associations; the second conference is dedicated to the maintenance of the tracks, where technical offices of the Municipalities and Provinces, voluntary associations and other operators encharged of taking care of maintaining the practicability of the tracks are invited to participate. Finally, the third conference is dedicated to the promotion and communication of the tourist offer involving the Tuscan Regional Tourism Promotion Agency, Fondazione Sistema Toscana, the Tourist Offices of the involved towns, Associations of territorial tourism companies, religious Associations operating on the Francigena route.

The results of the work carried out in the three conferences will be illustrated from 11.00 am in the plenary session of the meeting (in sala Tobino at Palazzo Ducale) by Stefano Romagnoli - director of the tourism, trade and tourist itineraries legislation service of the Tuscany Region. The mayor of the Municipality of Lucca Alessandro Tambellini will officially open the plenary session, while the conclusions will be entrusted to the regional councilor delegated to the via Francigena, Francesco Gazzetti.

Participation in the meeting is free: the registration of the participants will take place from 8.30 am in Palazzo Ducale.
