a year of sport by bike

"…il primo bacio dell’ Aprile è mio…” "...the first kiss of April is mine..." Mimì sang in Boheme. Cycling accompanied by a great soundtrack is a unique experience to have along the Cicloclassica Puccini cycle route during the first weekend of April. A route suitable for everyone in the places of the great Maestro, with visits to the uccini museums of the territory and two ring routes, with departures from Lucca and Viareggio that reach the two shores of Lake Massaciuccoli, with a passage by boat and lots of live music along the way.

The Padulata of May 1 is a paved and dirt roads 20-km-long festival, from the centre of Porcari to the Padule, in which you all can participate as long as you have a bicycle of any kind. Children are welcome and there is room for everyone, without competition and at an exclusively “tourist” pace.
Along the route, you can admire truly unusual natural scenery and animal species, in particular waders, that populate the numerous ponds present in the springtime and, at the finish, a refreshment of bread and chocolate will be to refresh all participants.

In August, for vintage lovers, there is La Vinaria, with two routes, “il divino” (the divine)  of 43 kilometres and “l'intrepido” (the brave) of 78 kilometres. The name is associated with “Via Vinaria”, which crosses the hills of Montecarlo and Lucca and enters through farms to experience wine tasting. The Vinaria is not competitive, but combines passion, fun, nature and landscape with the aim of cycling in company and tasting good food. The bike ride is open to all, as long as you are riding a pre-1987 racing bike that has spikes and straps, brake wire outside the handlebar and gear levers on the down tube, bedsides appropriate clothing.
