Meeting at the church of San Pietro Somaldi instead of in Piazzale Arrigoni as in previous years, for the annual "Blessing of the Animals" on the feast of St. Anthony, the Abbot.

The Archbishop of Lucca, Mons. Giulietti, will bless all our four-legged and winged friends. Everyone can bring "friends" properly guarded, (dogs on a leash, cats in carriers, birds in cages, etc.) to participate in the rite.

The Blessing was brought back to Lucca by the volunteers of Anpana Lucca (National Association for the Protection of Animals Nature Environment) in 2013 in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Lucca.

Each year that passes, sees an increasing number of people participating. Anpana remembers how "beyond its own conventions or religious affiliations, is important the tradition of the blessing of animals and how much it represents a fundamental step in the respect of every living creature and in the respect of the harmonious coexistence".

There will also be present, except for last-minute emergencies, some Anpana Dog Rescue Units.

To all participants, in addition to the usual certificate of participation in memory of the blessing 2020.
