A photographic exhibition organized by the Opera of the Duomo of Lucca: 40 pictures of the photographer viareggino Giovanni Nardini, inside one of the most fascinating places of the Garfagnana: the Hermitage of Minucciano, the last hermitage inhabited by hermit monks inspired by the Benedictine Rule of the Hour et Labora. Nardini had the privilege to enter this private place and, through intense black and white shots, represents the moments of daily life: prayer, reading, various activities, up to moments of meditation in the cells of the monks.

Monasticism, in the history of Christian times, was not only a prophetic mark on the future of the Kingdom of God but, for this very reason, had a look from above on man and was able to promote its life: monasteries have always been centers for the transmission of culture, artistic promotion, improvement of economic and social life.

From the Pisan Mountains of Saint Fredian's time to the Garfagnana, the territory was dotted with hermits and monasteries, some of which - which are now very rare - are still present.
