The feast of the reconnaissance of the true Cross is celebrated with particular solemnity in Lucca, motivated by the presence of the precious medieval wooden corcifisso known as the Holy Face. On this day, as the feast of the Triumph of September 14, the crucifix is ​​exposed and decorated with precious clothes and antique jewelry, gifts and vote of the faithful.

On Tuesday, May 3, as a celebration, in the Cathedral from 8:00 am / 5:00 pm the vestry and exhibition of the Holy Cross and, on the square in front, the traditional market.

On the occasion of the reconnaissance of the true Cross, the knowledge of the diffusion of the iconography of the Holy Face in Europe will be explored with a meeting at 16:30 at the Oratorio di San Giuseppe next to the Cathedral Museum. Follows a guided tour of the Museum.
