Historians and archivists compared in the conference I lunghi anni ’40: guerra ai civili e giustizia di transizione. (The long 1940s: war on civilians and transitional justice).

The aim of the study day is to encourage a constructive dialogue between archivists and historians on the conservation and use of contemporary documentary sources, with particular attention to judicial funds, useful for the historical reconstruction of those events that left a deep mark on Italian history in the middle of the last century.

Archivists from the State Archives of Lucca, the State Archives of Florence and the Central State Archives will address the issue of the multiplicity of fonds and the close connections between the documentation preserved in the various institutes.

Historians and researchers from the ISREC of Lucca, the University of Pisa, the University of Padua, the University of Florence and the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa will explore the issues related to their use for historical reconstruction.
